Test Sites

You really should go and see Antony Gormley’s new exhibition “Test Sites” at the White Cube Gallery:

“This summer White Cube invite you to explore Antony Gormley’s Test Sites, a large-scale site-specific work which has just been unveiled at Mason’s Yard. The photo-luminescent ‘space frames’ of Breathing Room III develop the artist’s investigation of “the body as a place of memory and transformation”, exploring the viewer’s perception of, interaction with and effect on the sculptural space which fills the interior of the gallery.  The gallery describes how “intense bursts of light interrupt complete darkness, unexpectedly jolting the experience from one of quiet meditation to acute interrogation” and the artist himself confirms “To scare people I think, yes. That’s important.”

Read more of his revelations about the show described as “blinding with brilliance”  in The Guardian.

Antony Gormley is also exhibiting Critical Mass at the De La Warr Pavillion. Read the FT Review of the East Coast show here.

Test Sites is at White Cube Mason’s Yard, 25-26 Mason’s Yard,  St. James’s, London, SW1Y 6BU, until 10 July. Gallery opening hours 10am – 6pm, Tuesday – Saturday.
