Final glimpse of the many things that went on at the Southbank this weekend celebrating the Festival of Britain. I love how the children play with the water feature, the colour added to the lovely National Theatre and its secret garden on the roof terrace. Very nice!
We headed over to Hackney Wick today to see the Folly For A Flyover where we had lovely bacon bagels and a rather stressful rowing trip down the canal. We then headed further east to the open space studio/cafe Stour Space where we watched the canal go by. Great examples of how space can influence our emotions and environment.
British MET Police charging students and pupils as young as 14 on mounted horses.
Student protests, London 2010, 25 November.
This is unacceptable behaviour by the MET and what makes it worse is that citizens are being illegally held for 9 hours. This means that a basic civil right of demonstrating is being taken away from the people.
If you are a protester, please don’t be violent but assertive and know your rights. You are under no obligation to hand out your personal information.

I found this little gem of a book/postcard holder today in a small cafe near Shoreditch High Street. I have never come across this simple solution and thought it works very well. The book you see in the middle is Martin Usborne’s “Joseph of Hoxton”, which I can highly recommend.

Nadia and James over at Design Detail Trail in the east end of London are doing a great job of documenting design details in the local area, which is a great addition to the London Design Guide. The main website is not up yet but head over to their blog to download the first edition and have a wander around.
