Brasilia: Working Plan Or Utopian Blueprint?

The long-awaited start into the final year of the BA (Hons) Interior Design course at the LCC, I am beginning to write my dissertation about Brasilia. What are your thoughts on Brasilia?

The Mexican architect Augustino Hernandez Navarro was born in 1924 and has designed some spectacularly modernist buildings. I tried to find out more about his work but it’s hard to find out more. If anyone knows anything, please give me a shout.

Sainte Marie De La Tourette Monastery

I have a strong attraction to modernist and brutalist architecture which I don’t fully understand. In my eye, this architecture is beautiful and especially this monastery creates a very spiritual feeling inside.

“The Dominican monastery of Sainte Marie de La Tourette was designed by Modernist architect Le Corbusier and built near Lyon in France. Constructed between 1956 and 1960, the monastery houses a chapel, residence and place of learning for Dominican friars. La Tourette is one of the most important buildings of the Modern Movment. The building had a profound influence on the later phase of Modernism and initiated a notorious architectural style called Brutalism.” - source

Fiat Lingotto Building

I really want to visit this factory in Turin for Fiat designed by Giaccomo Matte-Trucco. Built between 1920-1923, the complex was not only used as a factory and housing Fiat’s first construction line, but also as test track which was located on the roof.
